This is another enchanting recording, short yet effective, continuing the wistful aura felt from "Withered Caprinae." Magpie has a unique way of conjuring forth remote landscapes and musical locales that feel simultaneously familiar, nostalgic, yet unexplored & a bit alien. One of the things I like best about M’s music is how closely you have to listen, as if straining your ears to hear the ghost of a melody from a long-forgotten era, or peering deep into the gloom to make out the misty form of the lovely maiden with her flickering mouth forever open in a heartrending scream.
